When should I use Triple Pane Insulated Glass?

So you are ready to place the order on your beautifully designed Modern Steel Door or Window from PETTAV. Amongst your options is the type of glass you wish to incorporate into your door or window design. A great option for your new Door or Window is the energy-saving Triple Pane Insulated Glass Unit.

The typical build of a Triple Pane Insulated Glass Unit is 3 sheets of glass and 2 sealed insulating spacers. We recommend the glass sheet thickness to be 1/4 inch each and for each spacer to be 1/2 an inch. This increases the insulating value for this glass option. There are limitations though, the most noticeable one being the width of the overall glass.

When considering Triple Pane Glass you must take into consideration that the minimum recommended overall glass thickness is at minimum 1 3/4 inches using the above-mentioned specifications. In comparison, a typical Dual Pane Glass Unit can be 1 inch. Two 1/4 inch sheets of glass and one 1/2 inch insulating spacer.

Low E coating applications for Tripe Pane Glass Units are available. Decide on at least one coat of Low E protection for this type of glass build. You may also add a second coat of Low E protection to a Triple Pane Glass Unit.  Make this request when placing your order. This second coating provides additional insulation,  winter and summer U values of .16 for PETTAV products using Viracon Glass Options.

Check with your PETTAV Steel Doors and Steel Windows provider to see how to add this option to your order.  The custom design of your made-to-order Modern Pivot Doors, Accordion Doors, Ornamental Iron Doors, or any other products ordered at PETTAV will benefit from the added insulation.
